In some cases the optimum solution is firstly to “seal” existing ACM’s using an Asbestos Sealer which binds and seals friable asbestos wall and roofing sheets encapsulating harmful dust and fibres.
The areas in question can then be over-clad or encapsulated with another material. While used extensively, this solution is not always the most practical, as it can sometimes involve complex fixing systems so as not to disturb the ACM by drilling etc.
This will almost inevitably add weight to the building’s structure. In some circumstances therefore, the preferred solution is to remove the existing ACM’s from the site altogether.
